If you do not have a Graphics Program or
Windows XP Photo and Printing Wizard, you
can save
a map image, open it in a text program, and then print it.
If your Text Program is
MICROSOFT
WORD:
1.. Select the full
image of the map you want to print. (not the thumbnail)
2. Identify
Orientation of Map
In the address bar at the top of the screen you will see the file name/address
of the image.
This is
usually a file name ending in Ptif if it is a PORTRAIT orientation, or
Ltif if it is a
LANDSCAPE orientation.
Example: alookatcook.info/1930/C1930wd06mapLtif.gif = LANDSCAPE
Make note of this orientation.
3. Right click on the
map
Select SAVE PICTURE AS
Name the file and save as a bitmap file (.bmp) JPEG file (.jpg) TIFF (.tif) or
GIF (.gif) file
4. Open a new page
or new document in MICROSOFT WORD
5. Select FILE on
the menu bar
Select PAGE SET UP
Select the MARGINS Tab
Set all margins and gutter to “0”
Select PAPER SIZE Tab
Set
orientation for PORTRAIT or LANDSCAPE as determined in step 2, above.
Click OK
A pop up message will appear stating one or more margins are outside of the
print area.
Choose IGNORE

Return to document page
On Menu Bar Select INSERT
On drop down menu Select PICTURE, FROM FILE
Locate the map you saved and click on INSERT
7. RIGHT CLICK on map

On
the drop down menu select FORMAT PICTURE
Select the SIZE Tab
Make sure the box “LOCK ASPECT RATIO” includes a check mark
Make sure the box “Relative to Original Picture Size” includes a check mark
If your map is a PORTRAIT Orientation, in the height box enter: 11.00 (Do not
enter anything in
the width box.)
If your map is a LANDSCAPE Orientation, in the height box enter: 8.5 (Do not
enter anything in
the width box.)
Click "OK"
8. Return to document.
Select FILE on the menu bar at the top of document page
Select PRINT PREVIEW
You
should see a preview of the map that will be printed. Select CLOSE on the tool
bar

Return to document
Select FILE on the menu bar at top of document page.
Select PRINT
Click "OK"
You may receive a pop up message stating one or more of your margins are
outside of the print area. Select Yes, CONTINUE
If your Text Program is COREL WORDPERFECT:
1. Select the full
image of the map you want to print. (not the thumbnail)
2. Identify
Orientation of Map

Select the MARGINS/LAYOUT Tab
In the MARGINS section select "MINIMUM"
Select the SIZE Tab
Select PORTRAIT or LANDSCAPE as determined in Step 2
Click "OK"

the document page
On Menu Bar Select INSERT
On drop down menu Select INSERT GRAPHICS, FROM FILE
Locate the map you saved and click on INSERT
7. RIGHT CLICK on
thumbnail map

On
the drop down menu select SIZE
In the SIZE BOX:
If your map 's Orientation is PORTRAIT as determined in Step 2, Select WIDTH,
SET, and enter
8.5 In the HEIGHT section select MAINTAIN PROPORTIONS.
Do not add any number in the
HEIGHT section. Click "OK"
If your map 's Orientation is LANDSCAPE as determined in Step 2, Select WIDTH,
SET, and enter
11.0 In the HEIGHT section select MAINTAIN PROPORTIONS.
Do not add any number in the
HEIGHT section. Click "OK"

Return to document.
Click anywhere on the page that is outside of the graphics box.
Select FILE on the menu bar at the top of document page
Select PRINT PREVIEW
You
should see a preview of the map that will be printed.
Select FILE on the menu bar at top of document page.
Select PRINT
